'Bits

'Bits is the nickname for the untitled project by UDI that was the source of many backgrounds, action sequences, etc. to fill the discrepancies between ElamenSTAR and The Wizbits Cartoon. Commissioned production in July 19, 1996 and then canceled in September 2, 1999 after UDI was bought by General Defense Dynamics who canceled ‘Bits and  to make way for the new project of localizing ElamenSTAR. What little details are known are below.

Production Information

'Bits is actually a post-modern re-imaging (before the future, more infamous one which shall not be discussed) of The Elspinster Saga. A rip off of the ElamenSTAR series, it was rushed in order to beat a licensed localization of ElamenSTAR; i.e. to make it look like ElamenSTAR was a rip-off. Before the series was released, UDI was bought by General Defense Dynamics who canceled ‘Bits and started the licensed localization of ElamenSTAR. In a strange twist of fate, some of the animation used to create ‘Bits was recycled for Wizbits and later Wizbits Extreme.

Before 'Bits was completed, a colorbook was created by L H Franzibald. With little to no alterations it was released as Wizbit, a "Wizbits" coloring book that allows fan a window into the original 'Bits series. It is a point of humor among fans that Franzibald's work is so much of a rip-off that it could constitute a part of the series.

By the bonding together of each 'Bits member and their interlocking familiars' Rubian Suits -- Rubinoazon, a flame-spewing, ambulatory china cabinet will appear. This sequence would later be recycled in Wizbits Extreme, along with a lot of the original footage of the cast in Rubian suits.

Standard salvages in Wizbits include recycled background, effects, and occasional charactar cells, as well as reused moral segments. On the other hand, entire episodes would be recycled with minor script changes for Wizbits Extreme.

This episode guide is incomplete. We can only reconstruct episodes if a UDI production and/or derivative uses footage from 'Bits (which always has the hidden time stamp). However, there is still many blanks and we are hopeful more of the 'Bits series will become clearer as there is more shows released.

The Phantom 'Bits Edit: The Wiz'

After details came clear about the 'phantom time stamps' and the vague ties with L H Franzibald, one fan only known by the name of the Phantom 'Bits Editor featured at the disclaimer at the beginning of the circulated tape, was a known Strict Constructionists for the Wizbits and was sickened by the fact L H Franzibald's quote "unholy noodle appendage' touched the 'ELotH: TES' epic crown jewel" that he created an edited tape of The Wizbits called The Phantom 'Bits Edit: The Wiz' with the tagline "Take the 'Bits out of the Wizbits". The Wiz' tapes circulated in conventions and certain shady websites. The Wiz tapes included Season One, Two, and Three but in less then half the time. With special software owned by the editor the 15-10 minute episodes had random black backgrounds, no moral at the end of the show, no Doodle or Botch, and disturbingly no body parts in certain parts of the show (sometimes ElamenSTAR had suggestive arm and leg movements, so the body part cells had to be taken away and replaced with 'Bits limbs.) This odd cut is somewhat unwatchable due to incoherency but has been called hilarously random by some.

I actually own The Phantom 'Bits Edit: The Wiz'. It's really funny but I usually quit halfway through the cuts of Season 1.

I saw this at a Con once, but they just showed a few of the funny parts and then fast-forwarded to the parts where Doodle is removed, those those episodes are the wackiest.
