Airth, the Plunging Planet
Airth is thus named because it is believed to be made entirely of Air element, and is also named after the Ur-Element of the same name. Every three to seven months (depending, of course, on the variable length of a Battal month) Airth is seen to plunge into the sun, emerging on the other side several days later. This is most likely an optical illusion caused by the respective orbits or Airth and Battal; however, the "Plunging" is treated by most as fact, and indeed used as a method for divining fortunes.
To explain why Airth is not immediately destroyed upon entering the sun (which, as anyone can see, is made of pure Fire element), the theory that Airth is made of Air came into being. Water would be boiled and Earth scorched, but Air is capable of passing through the Sun's Fire unscathed.
Discussion
Tim | Related to Air?? I think it's related to Airth |
bfg00 | How so? Eir is related to Earth. Is there even a physical manifestation of Airth? Isn't Air just an aspect of Airth? |
Tim | Really I have no idea.. just stirring up trouble. :) |
bfg00 | That's fair. My information comes from the World of Battal Sourcebook, you wouldn't imagine the pain I had to go through the decipher the planetary aspects (and kudos to those who previously added this information, its not easy to extract) |
