These stony-skinned giant worms live in the Chasm of Eternal Sorrow. They eke a miserly existence on the powdered marrow that forms the layered strata of parts of the Chasm floor. They are reputed to devour the flesh of men who speak disrespectfully while in the Chasm and then pound their bones into dust. Hence, the powdered marrow. In Curse of the Doomsbane, they are said to have contributed to the well-known extreme politeness of the epic battles in the Chasm; however, that is contradicted in Erotic Blade of Shanari.
The beasts have been mentioned only four times in canon sources; in Book 4 of Tycho Brahe's Elemenstor Cycle, in Book 4 of Evolution of Eternal Sorrow, in a card the first expansion of the card game, Quest: The Chasm, and as a collectible plush doll.
