Astral Wall

A magical barrier created to separate the Material Plane from the less physical and often contradictory other planes of existence. It was constructed by the Hierarchs to keep the gooey parts of the spirit world from getting the solid physical world all sticky with ectoplasm and vice-versa.

The wall is easily pierced by most magic or Elemenstation, and even peasants cross the wall and enter the Dream Plane when unconscious.

There are parts of the Wall that have been worn away over time via too much Elemenstation or other supernatural events. These places are sites of raw power, but are generally best left alone as they can be unpredictable. A few rare exceptions (such as the site of the Cerulean Citadel) do exist, however, where such "springs" of otherworldly energy have been harnessed for the good of mankind.
