Axehammery

The dwarves of Battal pride themselves upon the use of two specific weapons above all others: the axe, described in legends as The Beard What Cuts, and the hammer, named The Beard What Does Not Cut But Bashes Instead. The basic philosophy of axehammery is that an enemy cannot parry a blade that has cut through his head; to use a real-life counterpart, axehammery combat is similar to samurai fast-draw duels, sans any subtlety or (apparent) skill.

Axehammery also has strong support for mass combat; a full regiment of dwarves trained in axehammery moves as one, akin to a gigantic mobile blender-carpet. A dreaded sight indeed.
