Batman - Cardboard Tube Samurai: Legend of the Laughing Wang

An 80-page giant detailing the first and only meeting between Batman and the Cardboard Tube Samurai, written and drawn by Frank Miller. While a wonderful yarn, it is not considered canon.

Story

While on a special training mission in southern Outer Mongolia, Batman takes a soak and a steam in a dimensional rift/hot spring. Meanwhile in another place and time The CTS is taking a soak and a steam in the same dimensional rift/hot spring. Somehow, the two end up falling into a future that may be of high-rise cyber-buildings, high cyber-finance, high-stakes and even higher-cybercrime! Here, they come across the Alpha Numeric Joker! But first, they discover that CTS was followed by sexy elite assassins!

Dealing with the sexy elite assassins in the customary style of a warrior from a harsh realm, CTS dispatches them in a spectacular scene that starts in the cyber-sewer that CTS and Bats climbed out of, and onto the uppermost spire of the "New Arkham un-Judicial Cyber-Ziggurat!" However, to Batman, the killing of hot ninja chicks, or any hot chicks, or any chicks or anyone makes CTS the badguy! So they fight! But this doesn’t go unnoticed to the Alpha Numeric Joker -because they are fighting in the very building that he dispenses his brutal and evil "un-Justice" from! But now, in the future that may be, the Alpha Numeric Joker rules the "un-United City of Gotham" as a demented warlord! And his "justice" is for the offender to be turned into a Perma-grinning cyber-solder in his Joker-Army! So now Batman and the CTS have to join forces to fight off the Grinning cyber-soldiers! The CTS Calls The Joker "Laughing Wang" and his soldiers "The Laughing Wangmen" after a Legend of a Laughing Demon form time immemorial! But Batman still believes in justice, even if it died with him 375 years ago and the Joker is only alive because he is attached to a machine that is so big it is Gotham City itself! So as Batman and CTS join forces, Bats turns to CTS and in true Frank Miller style says "This isn't over!!" (SO Awesome!!!)

Soon Bats and CTS wind up in the basement of the "New Arkham un-Judicial Cyber-Ziggurat" which is the old Arkham Asylem! There the Alpha Numeric Joker has imprisoned mutant experiments to keep him young and one is none other then the Predator! And another is the Alien! All heck breaks loose as Batman tries to save the few citizens of the now evil "un-United City of Gotham" from an AVP grudge-match! Eventually The Alien gets into the Alpha Numeric Joker's life support system and he starts dying, but not before he tells Batman how 375 years ago Batman died saving the Joker's life and how the Joker took advantage of the situation instead of learning from the example and turned America into his playground and how he was sorry and could Batman forgive him? Bats says, "Yes, brother, I forgive you" (!!!)

To commemorate the moment CTS writes haiku:

Again Laughing Wang

Into the Void, Calling Out

Was I a Bad Boy?

and

Grinning Laughing Wang

Dirt-nap inevitable

Ran Out of Cyber

He was about to compose another when Batman tried to apprehend him for killing 87 people, and the CTS and Bats wrestled and rolled back into the sewer, back into the rift, and back to their dimensions! As the CTS walked into the Black and White sunset he noticed that he had a Baterang in his hand and said:

Mask'ed Warrior

Clings like a Bat to Justice

Bonding of Brothers

The comic was teh awesome!

Better scans soon!

Hope that helps,

Never understood the part where the Aliens and Predator show up, it just didn't make any sense.
I actually have a copy of a Transformers comic with a CTS and Twinky the Kid ad in it! -1c3m4n
This comic is awful. I can't describe how bad it is. it's like a black hole of crappyness, sucking all good graphic novels into it's gaping maw.

And it's still better than DKSA. -Luggage

It's weird I don't remember seeing CTS ever mentioned in what I've seen of elothtes stuff, but there is a lot of stuff out there, so It's possible I missed it. You know I think I did see this comic once. It was really bad, and I really like most of Frank Miller's stuff. -Foolster41
The 1c3m4n duz not suffer foolz lightly! This comic was the b0mb! Only comic better was the DC/WWF Crossover when Plastic Man teamed up with Macho Man Randy Savage ("Oh Yeeah!")-1c3m4n
Foolster41, the CTS is a character from The Wizbits. I think he appears in the same episode as Kung Foo Rooster. Not sure, though.
Foolster: I think it was a different Frank Miller. - SamSim
To anyone confused about the CTS; he originated in the canon novel Oriental Tales of the Wang Kingdom, and his popularity later led to his (apparent) appearance in The Wizbits. So there that is. ~ Charmy
Are you sure it wasn't frank's younger and less successfull brother, Fredric Frank Miller? Same initials, FM. I think his middle name was given after his older brother, and people sometimes too to calling him "younger frank". -Foolster41
