Battle of the 18 Winds and 7 Half-Winds, Which is Really Just 21 Winds and a Single Half-Wind

Wind from the north! Wind from the South! Gusts from the East! Gusts from the West! Two slight breezes from the north by northeast. Two breezes.. perhaps that counts as a single gust?

- The Elemenstor Cycle, Book 12 : End of the Hierarch Wars

So begins the Battle of the 18 Winds and 7 Half-Winds, Which is Really Just 21 Winds and a Single Half-Wind, which was narrated by an unnamed meteorologist who was watching the battle from a safe distance.

This battle was an attempt to take the fight to the enemy. Toobanor, who on the march to battle was eating a large block of smelly Dark Hogs Cheese which he kept wrapped in newsprint, lead a number of skilled Elemenstors, among them Larrana Modpeer and Revolp Darkblood. Also part of the force was (non-elemenstor) Baroness Sekulantra, who lead a squad of her highly trained Azure Guard. Shuffling along at the rear were Montgomery Sofa and Juliette Floor Lamp, with the sofa whining to Juliette about the uneven path they were shambling along.

A pack of War Men, lead by Brezgar Two-Eye, who were ravaging the nearby village of Gusty Breezes, so this was where Toobanor lead his troupe. At first the elemenstors, who had the Element of Surprise on their side, slaughtered a tremendous number of War Men, but soon Bregzar rallied his forces and mounted a counter-attack. When reinforcements arrived for the forces of evil in the form of the Doorknob Marshals, the Elemenstors were forced to flee.
