Blackest Minathok
Blackest Minathok was the stronghold of the Vampyre Lord, Vhadxi. Standing at the southern edge of The Shield, the sheer terror of the place was the primary reason for the failing of the southern port town of Southport. Constructed of hardest obsidian, Blackest Minathok is a convenient 15-minute horse ride from the Chasm of Eternal Sorrow.
The citadel contained a notably large dungeon complex, where those who had run afoul of Vhadxi were tortured, maimed, or subjected to horrors beyond imagination. It is surmised that there may have been a portal to the deepest Underhell at the bottom of this vast dungeon.
The castle had many unnecessarily long and confusing corridors. Reaching even the library took an astoundingly long time and required long leaps over spike-filled pits. The design was based on Clichevanian architecture. Whips were confiscated at the front gate.
Before Blackest Minathok was so called it was the seat of power of the Mountain King, who ruled fairly and justly over his prosperous kingdom, which included King Mountain and The Valley of the Giants. The destruction of this kingdom and the subsequent creation of the Chasm of Eternal Sorrow, is told in Evolution of Eternal Sorrow.
In year 5,008 (TMSK), the long abandoned spire of evil is discovered by Grimbold Backbiter who begins work on converting it to a vast puzzlework prison, which comes to be known as The Clockwork Fortress.
