This is discussion as regards the BrothersChaps page.

Not to try to force out content or anything, but is this necessary? I mean, do we really need a plug for Homestar Runner on this--especially if it's on a page that is nothing but a plug? I mean, Burnanitors and Teragadoreth are obvious enough references to HSR that actually pointing out that it sounds a lot like Trogdor, and that Trogdor originated on HSR is sorta like a stand-up comic saying "Haha! Get it? Get it? It's a joke! Get it?" after telling a mildly funny joke. This also goes for the plug on Teragadoreth's page. -patkelly

Yeah, I sort of feel that this wiki reference should be for content that we can't find anywhere else on the Intertron, and the connection between ELotH:TES is well documented on the homestarrunner site (assuming that page is there there). I don't see it as our responsibility to house that info here. -tim

I guess I see what you mean. Other way around though, trogdor is a refrence to teragdoreth (As stated in the article), don't commit Crimethink, I suppose if the link is that obvious then sure, get rid of it. Though there are no actual links on the HSR page that direectly states that it is a refrence to Elothtes. -Foolster41 (Original Poster)

I don't know if this is valid. I don't mind Teragadoreth or Burnanitors, as long as the reference is tongue-in-cheek and not explicit. I would dump the Brothers Chaps page and remove all references to them. This wiki is a self-contained world, as Tim said. I mean, I wouldn't go over to an HSR wiki and start posting all sorts of links to this because there's a Trogdor-reference joke here; by that logic half the sites on the net would have their own pages on the HSR wiki. And because ELotH is such a cornerstone of our culture, we could just as well link to any other fantasy novel or website as having been influenced by ELotH--because most certainly have been. And I don't think Crimethink has been committed here. Teragadoreth and Trogdor are both very similar; if someone stumbled across one before the other I can imagine thinking it came first. -Lone Pawn

I agree that the Brothers Chaps aren't particularly relevant to ELotH:TES, at least as presented here. Now, if they'd gotten their start working in the Korean Animation Camps or had some more direct connection to the saga in some way, I could see the page being more important. But just because they referred to the saga doesn't make them special; one thing this project makes clear is that practically everyone has made reference to ELotH:TES, even people who died long before it was conceived. -Montykins

I see what you mean about there being too many refrences and I have to agree somewhat, though I can't help thinking we should at least keep the quote, because some HSR fan is going to come in and say "Hey! That's HSR!" and because its absent from the HSR site and HSR fan wiki. -Foolster41

Honestly, it only serves to weaken the page if we include links to everyone who ever made a reference to ELOTH:TES. I know the Bros. Chaps are Intertron Superstars, but then we'll have to give fucking half the people on the damned 'net a page, saying, "They referenced ELOTH:TES 2 times in 1999." Tiresome enough keeping track of actual canonical minutaie. - Finn34

There are lots of places where people will say "Hey! That's X!" But just because there's a company called Elemenstors of the Peninsula doesn't mean we necessarily need a Wizards of the Coast page. ELotH:TES has had a wide and far-reaching effect on our culture and it would be nearly impossible to catalog every reference to it. Also, apropos of nothing, I am of the opinion that parody is funnier when you don't point it out. -Montykins

And that, Montykinds, is why I started this discussion. To go OOC for a minute, Jokes should never be explained. If people don't get the HSR reference, pointing it out won't make it funny. If people get it, it doesn't need to be pointed out--and, with brevity being the soul of wit and all that jazz, pointing it out makes it less funny. I mean, quite a few of the jokes on here are throw-away parodies and references. I would say that this entire project was conceived as a mass parody of everything in the fantasy universe. And to come back to sanity, everyone on Earth has been influenced by this massively epic series. Everyone. Do we want to give everyone on earth a page? I would say the general agreement here is deletion. -patkelly
