The Canadian Citadel

An alternate version of the Cerulean Citadel that exists in Earth B's version of Ontario, Canada. It is the primary setting for Wizbits: Elemenstor High.

The Canadian Citadel is carved out of blue crystal raised from the bowels of the earth itself via High Elemenstation, although any add-ons that have been made to the school over the years, along with most of the interior, appear to be a basic (if spectacularly posh-looking) high school. Although it is glorious, it is enchanted so that only those directly told of its location by someone who already knows will actually see it.

At the highest point is the famous Ivory Staff Room used for PTA meetings and staff meetings and the like.

It was founded in the early 1970s by Canada's Project Element, so that Canada could keep up with the other Elemenstor training facilities around the world. In the early 1990s, a similar institute in the United States of America was shut down due to lack of suitable applicants and teachers, and the Canadian Citadel began to handle the training of Elemenstors for all of North America. After this change, the Citadel was expanded to include dormatories for students who didn't live close enough to attend classes without boarding accomidations.

The school was founded by Professor Timothy Powers, one of the earliest Grand Elemenstors to emerge on Earth B. The current principal and head administrator is Principal Harietta Portent, who was a good friend of the late Professor Powers.

The school teaches all of the courses in the Cerulean Citadel Course Catalog, as well as more mundane classes like drama and algebra. The goal of the school is to teach those with the Knack how to control and refine their powers, but doesn't directly encourage them to become Elemenstors, and so offers a variety of courses suitable for any career path a student could dream of.

The school's existance, along with the existance of Elemanifestation and other supernatural phenomena is public knowledge, although not the exact location of the school itself due to security reasons.

At its height, the student body included around 3500 students of varying ages and backgrounds. The faculty includes about 30 full-time instructors as well as various other personel such as janitors and administrators who keep things running behind the scenes.

The Canadian Citadel is not its official name, merely the one by which it is most known, its name at the time of its founding was the "Sapphire Academy for Gifted Youngsters" (named for Professor Power's late wife Sapphire Powers), although this was obviously too long to pronounce in common conversation.

There are five other such schools in the world of Earth B: The Ruby Porknbeans Institution in Scottland which serves all of Europe, La Escuela Verde Meridional in Brazil for South America, Dreamtime Downunda Orange University in Sydney for Austrailia, Kiironobara no Kookoo in Kyoto for Asia, and the Indigo Academy in South Africa for Africa. Although founded seperately, the six schools later joined together to form the International Elemenstor Scholastic Board.

There's also Little Miss Violet High directly on the South Pole for Antarctica, however it is primarily attended by penguins and floating on unstable icebergs, so everyone ignores it.

See the FAQ below from the official website for actual statistics and frequently asked questions about the Canadian Citadel.

From Brahm Singer's website FAQ:

Q: How many teachers are at the Candian Citadel?

BS: There are about 120 members of the faculty, including substitute teachers and non-Elemenstoring maintenance staff. And lunch ladies. ;) There are other teachers at the school besides the ones we focus on, but of course we can't know of every single one.

Q: How many students are there at the school?

BS: Although not everyone attends school every day, if you got everyone in one room, you'd have about 3,500 - although the number is growing slowly but surely each year. Its not a lot when you realize that's the entire next generation of Elemenstoring for all of North America. The only other Elemenstor school in the world with a higher population is the one in Japan.

Q: Are there elementary schools, junior high schools, or universities for Elemenstors?

BS: Not really. Grades K-8 need to spend all their time learning regular things, and nobody really wants a 12-year old to have the power to shoot fireballs and channel elemenetal spirits. Universities focus on regular things as well, although one could choose Elemenstor as an exclusive career and get a more experienced Elemenstor to tutor them.

Q: How many students live in the school dormatories?

BS: Most of them, actually. Especially ones that come from other provinces or the USA. Problably 95% or a little more than that. The ones that come from a magical family background can commute to school magically though, of course.
