Charnel Wyrm
Bogyn's Nastiness Rating: 197 (Incomprehensibly Nasty)
Creature Families: Draconic, Dyemonic, Insectoid, Chimeric
Draped in corpses of the damned, each scale glimmering with the torment of a tainted soul, the Charnel Wyrm was one of the most frightening demon-creatures of the Forgotten Age. It is the rumored ancestor of the Annelida.
After the monster's defeat at the hands of Welregar of Ebonshire and Lady B'gt'ts, its shattered bones were crafted by parties unknown into the body of the Staff of the High Augur. Polished with tears of the newborn, bound with the prayers of a thousand and one monks, the creation of the Staff is considered to be too difficult for any mortal to accomplish.
The only other canonical appearance of the Charnel Wyrm comes from the ill-fated comic-book series. In issue #16 (part of the Forgottenness Saga), the Mad Elemenstor Arathor is briefly seen conversing with the Wyrm. Even the staunchest critics of the comic admit that the Wyrm is rendered in stunning detail; the shading on the wings (which are, allegedly, woven from the shrieks of the unjustly punished) is particularly impressive.
"...(indiscernable chatter consisting of chewing, ripping of flesh, and gnashing of teeth)." - the Charnel Wyrm
