Cheese-a-thon

The primary source of hospitalizations associated with Elemenstorm 2005 were not at an officially sactioned event, but rather a fan organized get together that took place at a Sheridon Hotel close to the con.

The idea behind the event was to try to recreate various types of cheeses that are described in the ELotH literature. For months before the event, people were exchanging recipes for things that they were trying and collaborating on figuring out equivalents as they crafted various cheeses.

Finally on the day of the event, a banquet room was reserved, and tables set up. On the long buffet tables where cheeses of various types (all labelled) along with wine, crackers, and cider.

The event was going quite well. That is until someone noticed the unassuming red cheese at the end of the table with the small hand-written card labelled DragonPepper Colby-Jack Inferno.

Later tests revealed "battery acid" as a primary additive to the cheese.

After the event, the newsgroups were all a-twitter. People looked back through the messages to figure out who the event organizer was, but the event seems to have been carried forward by the collective enthusiasm and efforts of the entire fan community. Who came up with the idea was a mystery, and who reserved the room or brought the lone caustic cheese was doubly so.. a mystery that would even puzzle Staci Starlight.

The room was reserved online using the assumed name "TychoCelchuuu Jones". The ELotH:TES fan who uses the name TychoCelchuuu online, later claimed to have no knowledge whatsoever of the event.

Police are still investigating.
