Chronogolems

Wondrous mechanical men created by the secretive Chronoclave. Crafted by Chronosorcellors known as Chronoartisans, these clockwork creatures are imbued with the ability of Banachronation - the power to travel back in time. The reasons for this are twofold:

1- In early experiments with Banachronation, many a keen time-traveller found themselves going back too far and ending up halfway through a mountain or in the middle of one of Battal's many, many geological catastrophes and magical wars. It helped to have something to send back to ensure the Chronosorcellor's safety.

2- It is widely recognized that the main cause of the timestream being irrevocably and disasterously changed is an unknowing traveller killing/fornicating with an ancestor. Golems have no ancestors - hence there is no danger in golems time travelling! It is unclear whether this line of reasoning was worked through properly. The Byar-Coynkadence conjecture made this property of Chronogolems somewhat pointless, and many created for this purpose immediately became obsolete.

It is rumoured that renegade Chronogolems, free of their masters' control, ride the timestreams, and that Rogue Chronosorcellors also employ these creatures to further their own mysterious ends. The Chronoclave has ordered that all such unlicensed golems be destroyed on sight. However, the kindhearted Chronoartisan Tallant ran a home for old, obsolete Chronogolems - The Stopped Clock - that he kept secret from the Chronoclave's investigators.
