A species of dragon with feathered wings, huge feathered crests, and serpentine-like bodies. They shimmer in a panoply of colors and are extremely intelligent and usually good-willed. They feed entirely on monkeys, fruit, and the occasional willing human sacrifice. They have limited telepathic powers, their eyes shoot out rays that turn organic matter into fossils, and they have freezing-cold breath.

Coatl find thievery extremely offensive, and if they find a history of larceny in your mind with their telepathy, they are liable to freeze you, turn you to stone, and then smash you.

Many aboriginal peoples worship Coatl as local deities, offering criminals of their society up to the winged serpents as human sacrifices.
