Curse of the Guranbignoth
The Wizbits, Episode 300
Aired 1st September 2001
Summary
As Lander and company march on into battle with Dolphinthropes, a mysterious Air Elemenstor attacks! In a pitched battle, she is defeated, but before escaping, challenges them to a duel for an ancient weapon of great power in Castle Oxford-Fillingsham-by-the-Guranbignoth. The Wizbits mull over their options, and decide to take the bait. In the town near Castle Oxford-Fillingsham-by-the-Guranbignoth, the people warn the Wizbits that a great evil lurks in the castle and should be guarded against.
In Guranbignoth they encounter the Elemenstor again--only to find she's a pawn of Char Reyarteb and she's not alone. With her is one of Char's old and powerful tools, UberGhast, who has become the scourge of Guranbignoth. A pitched battle ensues, but the Wizbits decide that, rather than stay and fight the UberGhast, they'll trap it. After chasing the geist through the maze of cooridors, the Wizbits surround it on both sides, and seal it with their strongest gears.
The Wizbits return to Guranbignoth and proclaim the geist has been trapped, and tells the people that should the UberGhast escape, the people should just keep in touch. It is revealed the mysterious Elemenstor has died of scorn, the obscure disease known as the Curse of the Guranbignoth.
Throughout this season, two dwarves, Ten and Tan, keep appearing trying to sell their dwarven crafted goods in order to make some easy money. Invariably, whatever they have created will explode before it can be sold or put to good use, leaving the dwarves to say "Auch... I knew that was a weegin." (meaning unclear)
Moral
Penny: Lots of times, it's better to seal your problems away deep inside yourself instead of letting them come out to the surface! Nobody likes a kid with problems. Makes 'em feel weird.
Notes
- The original episode of ElamenSTAR on which this episode is based began a series of episodes designed to introduce a new set of characters who would go on to star in a new anime series, Elemenstor Gearstrike (rumored to be currently in production).
- James Langomedes attempted to campaign to keep the Japanese character in The Wizbits, as he was rather fond of Mayumi. When told that a murderous berserker would be out of place on the American version, he proceded to refer to the standards and practices boards as "Magma Fascists," for reasons difficult to explain. He never again referred to anyone from S'n'P, or to the S'n'P itself, as anything other than "Magma Fascists."
- "Scorn" was also the name of a computer virus that emerged shortly after this episode aired. It was designed to lock up a computer by displaying a vast amount of "angry porn."
