Dame Walk

A character from Book 8; The governess and tutor of 12 year old Asana Millytopthought living on the farm between the villages of Yalka and Pormora in Terle. Dame Walk teaches Asana just enough about art, literature, history, and self defense to motivate young Millytopthought to pursue adventure. When the Halfmen of Zonard revolt she flees west to the Howling Mountains.

"Beastly. Just beastly. These creatures have overrun all of Yalka already. It's bedlem." she said, just the faintest hint of panic in her voice.

"However child, now is not the time to lose ones head. Why, when I was just a sprout I and my dear Sphinx were captured by Tooth Pixlies. That was dreadful, but we kept our calm and so kept our teeth."

Asana had stopped walking and turned to look at her governess, puzzlement and disappointment written across her face. More of these old stories when new tales were unfolding all around them

"It is a tale for another time. Now is the time for the better part of valor. West, I would think. West to the Howling Mountains." With these words she held up her imported Wang Kingdom Bumbershoot and took Asana's hand.

This was all happening too quickly. Asana wasn't ready to retreat. Adventure had come knocking at her door and she was ducking out the back before even glimpsing through the peephole. She pulled her arm away from the old woman who was already lifting off the ground.

"Asana! You know I can't stop this thing! Asana you come back here. Catch up girl, you can still grab my hand. Asana! Asana!!" but young Millytopthought was already bounding away quite in the opposite direction, mind filling with the thought of perilous circumstances and daring escapes.
