Deadly Cellar of Rats n' Barrels
Once thought of as a myth, a fairy tale realm akin to Shangra La or Atlantis, the Deadly Cellar of Rats n' Barrels is all too real for those who stumble upon it. A pocket dimension with an entrance located near Olde Cliche, its only means of access is by the Rickety Minecart of DOOM, which transports weary travellers seeking Gold Coins and Power Pellets to perceived hidden riches. At the end of the line, however, these sad souls find themselves in the darkness of the Cellar, surrounded by the unspeakable, indominable horrors, the Rats n' Barrels.
Many a hero entered the Cellar with legendary, God-wrought weapons, only to find that the Unusually Large Rats were impervious to their enchanted blows. Adventurers descended its depths girded in stout, adamantite armor, intent on filling their coffers with riches only to be found in the Cellar's barrels. Their greed was their downfall, for even their seemingly invulnerable armor shattered at the force expelled by the Barrels' explosions when they struck them.
An ancient archeological expedition was lost in the Cellar, its members ultimately scratching frantic narratives before their demise. They rambled about the only means to destroy the Cellar's denizens. Chicken-scratch writings decry that the Rats are only cut by the Legendary Rusty Knife, an artifact that has, unfortunately, been lost for ages. Similarly, the only barricade robust enough to repel the Barrels' blast is the Fabled Splintered Wooden Shield, which was swept away into the sea long, long ago.
Recently, Elemenstor historians have triangulated the location of the Cellar and have sent adventurous types to explore its three rooms. To date, they have not found the stairs leading up and out - indeed - not one of them has returned.
