EFWQ X: Child of the Elemanifestations
Technically this game was released immediately after EFWQ V: Keys to the Hearts of the Sky Orbs (to which EFWQX:CotE was in a way a sequel), but due to some localization issues the game was not released in the United States until after EFWQ IX: Daydream of the Dragon Lord.
Apparently, the primary health restorative in the game was Fruiit Juice, which was purchased from large phallic vending machines found throughout all the game areas. Due to the family un-friendly nature of this "product placement" large amounts of art and text assets needed to the be reworked, and several key plot scenes needed to be retooled to allow the thrust of the narrative to still make sense without the presence of this drink.
Story
Beginning in the orphanage in the small town of Hambitshire, the adventure rages from the northern coastal plains of Battal, all the way down to its craggy rocky southern cliffs in a densely packed series of shocking twists revealed with lengthy in game sprite based unskippable cutscenes.
Perhaps most shocking was the revelation that the king that had sent you on your missions was all along an imposter, which explains why the people of the castle all would mention why the king "just hasn't been himself lately" when you talk to them.
Gameplay
The only game in the series to implement the inscrutable "shadow party member" system in which an unnamed character appears without fanfare at about the 10 hour mark in the game and begins following the party. The character is never named or under direct player control, but appears along side the controlled characters during seemly random occasional monster encounters from that point on. Apparently one technique for winning the game was to save right before the final battle and initiate the fight repeatedly until this character was present for the conflict. Unforunately, this meant watching the unskippable 13 minute cut scene before the battle to determine if the tactic had worked.

Trivia
- The location of the world of the Elemanifestations went unnamed until the release of The Grand Elemenstor of Magic, where it was revealed to be Khalm.
- The EFWQ X II: Bubbly Girl Dress Up Party spin-off of this game is based on an extended family of sisters, of whom we meet three as minor NPCs 1/2 through chapter 2 of the game. "I hope the shop is open," "Do you like my new hat?" and "We're going to a party!" are the only lines of dialog that they had in the game, and yet their story fired fans imaginations enough to spawn this sequel.
