True Horizons

Summary

There is a brief montage of the story so far--how they started half a year ago in Steam Shallows, how much has happened since then. When the montage ends, we see Horizon sitting next to a fire, watching it as his friends sleep in the midst of a great field. After a while, I'den wakes, and sees Horizon looking lonely.

She asks him what he thinks, and he responds with the truth: He's in love with her, and he knows she's in love with Twilight. Horizon wonders, briefly, why things turn out like that. I'den smiles, gives him a kiss on the cheek, and says, "The world is everything but fair."

When the morning comes, the heroes set out for Choxo Town. Twilight grants a brief history lesson: Choxo Town was where the Four Underdogs launched their first campaign against Char Reyarteb, as transportation magic was much stronger within its boundaries. Capturing the town would be a nearly decisive victory for the reborn tyrant.

The issue ends on a "to be continued" as the quintet are about to breach the cloud cover above Choxo Town.

Notes

This issue has perhaps the most mixed reaction of any issue of ELoTH, especially among shippers of all kinds. It's also the focus of many adult works as well; the most (in)famous, "One Night Before Choxo Town," features an ever-growing "self-winding pile of orgy" that grows to encompass characters from all across the saga "like a Katamari of horny."
