Elementals

Bogyn's Nastiness Rating: -101 (Harmless) for the Theoretical Heart Elemental to 294 (Incomprehensibily Nasty) for the The Unspeakable Elemental

There seem to be two contexts in which Elementals appear within canon.

Elementals...

Some Elementals are... Elementals... Supernatural beings that exist in a non-physical form on a higher plane of the Elmether. The place they reside in is incredibly boring, dull, and made of shapeless energy. Thus, they form pacts with Elemenstors that allow them to live life in Battal via the Elemenstor's memories and experiences, by psychically residing in the minds of their Elemenstor partners. In return, Elementals allow the Elemenstor to draw upon their power via gears. A skilled Elemenstor can cause an Elemental to take on physical form, called an Elemanifestation for a brief time.

As entities of pure Elemenstation, they are vulnerable while in physical form to opposing Elements. A Fire Elemental would, for example, be a living being of pure flame, vulnerable to Water; either normal or from Elemanifestations.

It is rumored that there is one Elemental for each facet of the Starborn Gem.

They are in effect the opposite of the perverted Dark Spirits.

Just Elementals

Other creatures are called "elementals" because they are creatures composed entirely of an animated form of a particular element. For instance there are fire elementals who are merely animate pillars of flame, sometimes intelligent, sometimes not. Another example is the Peanut Elemental.
