Enter the Wolf Man

The Wizbits, Episode 202

Aired 17 September, 2000

Summary

This poor installment of the series clearly appeared to be a Halloween themed adventure. Why it was aired in September is unknown. The plot involves the Wizbits traveling through the dark lands of Clichevania in search of the elusive Goth Make-up of Loneliness. On the advice of a villager at the base of Mount Plot Device, The Wizbits ascend toward Blood Castle. They are dogged all the way there by the treacherous Wolf Man, who attempts to block their progress with easily defeatable traps. The Wizbits "kick it into overgear" to finally locate the Goth Make-up of Loneliness, Penny uses it to play a tuba song so sad, Wolf Man crys Wolf Tears and is no more.

Moral

Penny: Sometimes, candy from strangers is poison. It will kill you. Other times, it tastes great! So watch out for that.

Notes

Despite the uncharacteristically tame nature of this episode in the original Japanese ElamenSTAR, the copious amount of alcohol, served to adults and minors (and their animals), depicted in an extremely positive light ("Boy, how does anyone have any fun when they're sober?" Zula asks at one point) necessitated a radical rewrite for the American version. It is perhaps for this reason that James Langomedes attempted to remake this episode into a Halloween Special.

Unfortunately for American audiences, the American version of this episode marks the first in a string of wild departures from the original ElamenSTAR episodes, effectively shattering the cohesion and coherence of the plot.
