Eslovat

An Eslovat is a creature created in the Temple of Death from the soul of a desceased to manage the affairs of death. Eslovat can be created from the souls of any sentient race and once a being becomes an Eslovat thier race in life no longer matters. Occasionally, a freak hapenstance may cause a living being to become an Eslovat while still alive, giving them powers over Death, as seen in the popular action manga, Detergent.

Every eslovat has a function to perform which they perform efficently and relentlessly. They are separated into several organizations each with thier own tasks. It is speculated that the very highest of the Eslovat take orders directly from the Hierarchs. Eslovat are neither good nor evil, but rather carry out the duties of the Temple with unquestioning efficiency.

There is a sort of professional rivalry between the Eslovat and the Celestial Entities of No Religious Affiliation (CENRAs), and the fumblaroo tournaments held every 1,000 years or so between them is said to be epic indeed. Usually Eslovat jurisdiction takes precedence over specific assignments from individual deities that may be carried out by the CENRAs, but on the occasions where CENRAs overstep their bounds there really is no recourse for the Eslovat.

Eslovat Organizations

The Keepers

Charged with guarding the epic items contained in Temple of Death lest their power wreak havok on the other planes. By far their most famous charge it is to guard the Death Wand which they keep until the rightful Grand Elemenstor of Death arrives to claim it. Occasionally also they will lend it out for quests which are particularly epic, and would be responsible for retrieving it from such quest if need be.

The Keepers posses none of the conventional emotions but instead posses all of the Seven Lost Emotions.

The Soul Hunters

Hunt down those who try to cheat death. Be it those who are undead or those who have achieved an artifical immortality. They posses the abilty to freely shift in and out of spirit form and are completely indestructible. The Soul Hunters tend to almost always wear black cloaks or trenchcoats and speak only in ellipsis. They posses very little emotion save senses of conviction and irony.

Vampyres are known to check under thier coffins in the morning for Soul Hunters. This is most appropriate as Soul Hunters are actually known to hide in wait under coffins. It should be noted that generally speaking Soul Hunters do not seek out Vampyres. The reason for this is that the soul of a Vampyre is mostly dispersed, seriously reduced to the point where at various times it is referred to as a "mouldering soul" or a "soul echo". Only particularly powerful Vampyres recover enough of their soul for it to be of interest to a soul hunter.

The Judges

Investigate the lives of the dead and in the case of Vuksveufens determines their fate. Even when the dead are remitted to other Deities the Judges are fequently employed by them as investigators.

The Judges are not without compassion and sympathy. This is most unfountunate as they tend to be most sympathetic toward those you've hurt. They accept no excuse or equivocation what-so-ever. They lack the "smaller" emotions such as envy or greed.

The Sentinels

The most humane of the Eslovat, they posess the full-range of human emotions (as well as one that allows them to feel empathy for fruit, for some uncomprehensible reason) as they must take on living form to perform most of their duties. They help Ghosts achieve their final wishes before being sent before the Judges. Their chief function, however, is to protect the living from ShadeGhosts and Nothings, and to use their powers to destroy such creatures before they upset the balance of life and death.

Sentinels are also occasionally dispatched to critical moments in history when the fate of a timeline may hang in the balance. During such times they often must endure and uneasy truce with members of the Chronoclave who frequently make appearances at the same events.

it should probably be noted that "Detergent" isn't really... *couldn't* really... be canon.. I mean.. a talking mountain? friendly evilnors? a hero that claims to be decended from ooamp?
