Fan Language

ELotH:TES fandom has generated quite a number of inside terms and slang, known in some circles as Wanglage. Interestingly, although it is overflowing with derogatory terms, the fandom has never evolved a term of approval; it is equivalent to a language with 200 words for "jerk" and none for "You're okay, pal!"

Derogatory Terms

  • bridgers: a derogitory term taken from canon. someone who attempts to bridge two conflicting ideologies, when clearly a side must be chosen. (in this case www.centuryoffire.com versus elothtes.pbwiki.com)

  • Elemenstard: Refers to one who only became a fan of the books after the highly commercial and continuity light Book 5: The Underpants of the Underdeep. Also known as a Panty-Waste, they are generally looked down on by the larger fan community.

  • Enthralled: Refers to those that have taken the books too seriously. Some of these people are those that join The Heirarchs of God.

  • Creak: Furnie slang for sexual acts between Furnies, or works of Erotic Furnie Fan-Fiction

  • Elemenstormies: The name used by most people use to describe Elemenstormers. To most Elemenstormers this is a derogatory term.

  • Cold Heads: There is a faction of fans of ELotH:TES who, although very enthusiastic about the series, are not in fact fond of hats. These fans "don't really know what the big deal is" when it comes to head coverings, but usually redirect that fervor instead towards cheese.

  • Mud Kings: a term for fans who reject certain ELotH:TES works for being poorly concieved or executed. Mud Kings in turn usually refer to the fans who use this term as "fanboys."

  • wanglist: a complicated term with multiple definitions, one of which is used to refer derisively to anyone who uses any of these words.

  • Wiotch: a derogatory term used to describe unpleasent women, which originated from an infamous viral video.

Theories

Wiki Specific (new) Terminology

  • Edit Whore: A person who superfoulously edits pages or creates unnecessary pages.

  • Spelling and Grammer Fairies: Anonymous contributors who pour through pages of the wiki correcting spelling and grammar mistakes, tirelessly editing others contributions and never asking for credit or thanks (the reason being that they do it only for themselves as the spelling and grammar mistakes literally eat away at their souls).

Other Terms

  • Elemenstormer: Standard name by which fans of ELotH: TES refer to themselves.

  • Elemenstormstress: Term describing female fans of Eloth: TES. However, leading feminists in the fanbase have critisized use of the term, perfering the politically correct term, 'Elemenstormperson'.

  • Nose Blindness: That which keeps obvious candidates for inclusion in this wiki from being immediately entered.

  • Moral Combat: Short hand for a Bottle Battle over a rules or canon challenge.

  • Franzies: subtle parody fan fiction which re-writes canon elothtes works in the Franzibald style, often removing semicolon blocks entirely and replacing them with completely straightforward literature.

  • unheat: Originating in the CCG, it spread as hip language into the Fan Base and has even made its way into canon materials.

I have an almost unending urge correct the spelling of "grammer" but i think that would be against the spirit of this page.
