Garth Ennis Presents: The Vampyric Wars
An ultra-violent four part mini-series of graphic novels written and produced by Garth Ennis and published by Vertigo Comics. It tells the story of Captain Kh'itch and his Footstool Brigade during the events that led up to their sacrifice at the Chasm of Eternal Sorrow. While generally considered an accurate rendition of the closing hours of The Vampyric Wars, some fans take issue with Ennis' wildly off-track interludes between chapters. The thirty-six page fight between King T'n'r and a disembodied wolf's head, while artistically sumptuous, is out of continuity with The Lost Tales of Shattered Kelembad.
Summary
- Issue Two - Captain Kh'itch mulls his options, then lops a hell of a lot of heads off.
- Issue Three - Captain Kh'itch has a cup of tea (sipped from the skull of an enemy from Issue Two), then the book goes off to detail an out of continuity fight between King T'n'r and a disembodied wolf's head.
- Issue Four - The Vampyres stage a final rally but are roundly smote. Captain Kh'itch leads the Footstool Brigade over Lemmings' Bluff in order to honor the company's oath to their fallen leaders.
The entire mini-series, plus original artwork and scripts, can be purchased as a trade paperback.
