Glamis Blair Castle
The first thing to know about Glamis Blair Castle is that nothing Epic ever happens there. For Battal, this is astounding--almost to the point of disbelief. And yet there is a sense in which the Castle is thus monumentally Epic. It is, in fact, so Epically un-Epic that Epic beings from King Ronard to S'yrf'yl the Immortal to the Singing Throne have been known to vacation here in order to mask themselves and, for a time, escape the demands of destiny.
King Ronard himself built Glamis Blair Castle as a summer retreat. Two other castles already existed in the area--Castle Liontail and Castle Pizzle, both used at the time primarily by lesser nobility in need of a hunting lodge or two. It seemed like a nice neighborhood and the hunting was terrific, especially down in the Grand Pizzle Canyon where the Teriyaki Buffaloaf roamed in massive herds. King Ronard brought his copy of All of Rounders Kingdoms: From the Beginning and placed it in the Summer Library, where it would later be found and perused by Sierra Vanity; it was also here, on a hunting trip with his old friend, where Lord Greylord first presented some of his revolutionary ideas on governance. The meaning of the name is shrouded in mystery, though some speculate that the castle was in fact built for and named after a woman, possibly a lover of Ronard's.
Glamis Blair Castle continued to provide a suitable summer home for Ronard's descendants; they even got some new neighbors when the Onsah Deeps went in at the bottom of the Grand Pizzle Canyon in 1,000 TMSK. By this time, the various servants and support staff of the area's numerous castles represented a sizable population, so they founded the city of Pizzlemoore and celebrated by constructing Public Works Project Number 60108 not too far down the road from Glamis Blair.
Unfortunately, The Wandering Age brought about a massive collapse in the value of castle-based real estate, and Glamis Blair castle stood more or less empty for thousands of years. In fact it would be over 10,000 years before the economy recovered and another castle was built in Pizzlemoore (this time by King Basarack the Rich); in the meantime, the primary source of Pizzlmoore's income was the export of shoestuffs.
With the economic stimulus provided by Basarack, Pizzlemoore gradually returned to life and would ultimately be known by vacationers for its "Seven Castles," though its phony Harbinger Portent tours bring more tourism than the castles themselves. This may be a side-effect of Glamis Blair's unique properties, as few tourists show much interest in the Castle--despite the many Epic figures who have vacationed here over the years.
