Great Gandandersanden

see also: Mean Elves. Unlight War

The underground capital city of the Mean Elves, located in the depths of The Underdeep.

When The Darkmarch Elven had been exiled below the lands for untold ages, a faction within the group began calling themselves the Faction who Really Hate Playing Music all the Damn Time. They decided to settle down and found some sort of defensible city, given The Underdeep was rather a trecherous place to wander. The leaders of the Darkmarch, known as The Conductors, banished this faction for their heretical ideas.

This faction formed the citadel of Great Gandandersanden, which became the seat of power to the far reaching Empire of Dark. The inhabitants stewed and grumbled, both at their exile from their people, and at their fate of living underground in a cave. They became jaded and pissed off, and ultimately this faction became known as the Mean Elves.

Tidbits about Great Gandandersanden

  • An important profession in Great Gandandersanden is Ringleader, a unique position which occupies a place in society that makes them something between a priest, a hairdresser, and a tatoo artist.

  • Interestingly, the Elves that came to found this kingdom realized that they had brought their instruments with them out of habit, even though they no longer had, or would ever again have, the desire to play them. As a result, the most common establishment in the city became used musical instrument shops. Due to the glut of unwanted instruments, it is known across the lands as an excellent place for bargain hunters, assuming that you can endure the hard glares of the surly shop keepers.

Excerpt

The frigid tension of Queen-Princess Xanzandrinzel's subterranean throne room was shattered as its heavy double doors flew open, slamming against the walls and topping several guards. An athletic figure in rough blue robes confidently strode to the center of the room, followed by a slightly taller and more graceful companion clad in long, flowing purple rainments. They threw back their hoods to reveal a pair of unlikely travelling companions in The Underdeep... a High Elf archer and a rugged Sw'ftfl'woot. The fuzzy rogue looked about at the room of assembled warriors and adventures, seeming pleased. He shouted:

"QUEST AT GATES, NEED HEALER AND TANK!"

The Queen and her assembled champions looked at each other in confusion... they were not accustomed to such abbreviated language in a royal court. The Elf leaned in and whispered in his companion's ear in the Arcane Elvin Language. He nodded, and then said, quite dramatically:

"The heavy doors of the chamber were suddenly thrown open as two mysterious figures strode through, walking with epic purpose and determination. Even the greatest heroes of the Mean Elves who had assembled there took notice of their brusque entrance, the swaggering urgency with which they had entered. The leader of the group threw back his hood and tossed his robes over one shoulder to reveal himself as one of the few proud warriors who remained of the riverfolk, his fine blue fur doing little to obscure both his handsome features and scars of battle. In a loud voice he proclaimed: "Elves of the Great Empire of Dark, at your very gates there stands an army of Vampyres prepared to wipe you from the deep places of the Earthen Sphere. Led by the foul Dark Lord Prick'd, they command a force of The Most Lost of Nevelost of Silverstone in a veritable mockery of your great race, and have already all but conquered the Underkingdom. Even now your queen has gathered the mightiest of you that yet remain hoping desparately to find a way to defeat this enemy... and now you have found it. For I, S'yrf'yl the Immortal and the Elfin Archer Quailheart have been dispatched by The Council to repel this dark army. Today we shall shake the very roof of The Underdeep with powerful Earth Gears and smash our opponents into the sacred ground that they have defiled in this Unholy War. Quailheart and I will need two of you to join us: A mighty warrior who can aid me in repelling the scourge of rogues who will attempt to stop us, and a Life Striker who can feed our blood and strength against our hellish enemies. Who among you will join us?"

The duo were greeted with a deeper and more awkward silence... followed by hearty laughter from the crowd.

"Omg!" declared Cutter Glade, "I haven't heard anything like that in ages! You guys still do that?"

"W'oe! By the very lulz of the Darkunder," cried Healix Freena, "Aardnarsh himself classified your kind as extinct!"

"ENOUGH!" shouted Queen-Princess Xanzandrinzel, rising from her throne, "We welcome these adventurers. And I believe I just heard two of my favorite heros volunteer."
