Item Tracking Database

The Item Tracking Database is maintained by the Item Law Makers Guild. The guild saw it was neccesary to regulate the glut of magical Items being created ever day throughout Battal, and to facilitate this they required each magical Item to include a Lixi Gem somewhere on it, as illustrated in Law 5 of the High Ultimate Item Law book of Item Laws. The Lixi Gems were used to report back to the database itself which consists of rocks and twigs and goat bladders and mice ears and little bits of glass. These assorted items harness the power of each bit of Lixi Gem that is contained in the Database. The other half of each Lixi Gem, embedded in the Item to be tracked, is constantly in magical communicaton with the half in the Database. Utilizing the goat bladders, primarily, a member of the ILMG is able to ascertain the location and function of the item containing the piece of Lixi Gem. The mice ears and little bits of glass serve primarily to focus the power of the Lixi Gems when not in use, in order to keep their magical energies flowing. The twigs and rocks are basically decoration, and can be used in a pinch to defend the Database if it is ever attacked by renegade item crafters attempting to challenge the power of the ILMG. This has given rise to the phrase (generally only used in the ILMG) that goes "Sticks and stones may break their bones, but we're screwed if they get to the Lixi."

The Database itself does not reside in any one location, since the concentration of magical energy from the Lixi Gems leads to large explosions if not handled correctly. Faced with either figuring out how to safely store them or just giving up and decentralizing the Database, the ILMG took the easy way out.
