James Langomedes Candlelight Vigil

On April 4, 2005, a year after James Langomedes was taken into captivity and subsequently fell into a coma following a Grand Mal seizure, a candlelight vigil was held in his honor outside St. Thomas's Hospital in London. The event drew over 10,000, requiring a substantial portion of the street be closed. Although the fans of Langomedes' work were not allowed inside the hospital, several large television screens showing live footage from his bedside were placed on the street, allowing rapt viewers a chance to be close to the man who had been a part of so many lives.

The gates in front of the hospital were piled high with cards, flowers, and odes to Langomedes, and although the vigil ended peacefully, the police were called at one point after someone had the idea that if the crowd yelled loud enough, they could 'wake him up.'

There are scattered and as yet insubstantiated reports of miracles occuring during the vigil, most notably the resurrection of Ms. Ella Finlayson's cat, Skip. (See Feline Resurrection)

Given Langomedes' continued comatose state, it is widely suspected that another vigil will occur in 2006.
