Jester Fiesta
Also known as the Feast of Morons and Jester's Day, Jester Fiesta is a strictly human holiday that was loosely based on the Dwarven festival of Beadbeerbeard. In the Wang Kingdom, it is celebrated in the name of the Magical Monkey King, but is more secular in other regions of Battal. The Jester Fiesta takes place over a 24 hour period, and is split into two parts.
The Jester Fiesta is officially condemmed by the Vuksveufa church, but they condem anything anyways. For this reason, Vuksveufa leaders and subjects are often heavily mocked throughout the festival.
Dawn of Dumb
Beginning at midnight and continuing till noon, is the "Dawn of the Dumb" half of the festival. Various pranks, hoaxes, and humilations are doled out by neighbors across Battal. The sophistication of these jokes can range from throwing a pie in someone's face while kicking them in the nuts, to cleverly arranging it to seem as if everyone in the town has died of the the plague - and then kicking someone in the nuts.
It is widely celebrated by those in the information business, which leads to much frustration and annoyance on the part of everyone who is convinced that a "lost page of the Weighty Tome of Elemenstor was found and it features hedgehog pornography" and the like.
Tweilight of Madness
Beginning at noon and continuing to midnight is when the actual feasting begins. The world is turned upside down as peasants are treated as if they were Assorted Heroes and various Epic figures, Rulers, and especially Bureaucrats are mocked without mercy and have to act as if they were unepic. This one day is pretty much what keeps the entire peasant population from commiting suicide.
Children typically lead the rest of the festivities, pretending to be Kings, Hierarchs, heroes, and other important people while spouting out tons of obscenity and leading the day's feasting, revelry, outrageous costume-wearing, and dancing.
Other Aspects
For the first 20 years of the festival, this was also the day official circumcisions were given out. This was stopped for reasons that really should've been obvious to begin with.
