Journey to the Center of the Pit

The Wizbits, Episode 310

Aired 10 November 2001

Summary

The Wizbits continue from the previous episode, Where is that Pesky Chasm?, only to find that their enemy, Elza Shiiwulf of the Surro Surregard, has taken over the mind of MooMaa, creating StrangeCharmed Moo Maa. The Wizbits alternate between warding off Moo Maa, dueling with Elza and her mind-controlled minions, and seeking the Heart of Fire.

Our intrepid heroes manage to defeat Elza, find the Heart of Fire, and use it to return the pit to normal, keeping it from turning the chasm into a volcano. Seer Liebchek praises the sprites and sends them on their way, amidst mumbled monologues about the Million Year War.

Moral

Skip: Remember, we're all just seemingly insignificant cogs in the vast machine of reality. Each one of us has little to no effect on our own lives, let alone the grisly machinations of fate! No matter how hard you try, sometimes you just can't change something for the better.

Notes

This was the episode that elicited the Throbbing Stave of Phallus controversy causing The Wizbits Cartoon to be the focus of a very negative article in Plugged In magazine, as well as garnering criticism from several family values groups.

In the Japanese version of this episode, MooMaa is not the victim of mind control, and the character of Elza Shiiwulf of the Surro Surregard does not exist, it is merely Mayumi wearing a disguise. Her costume is destroyed a little bit more with each attack by the Annelida, but as these scenes are edited out of the American version of the episode, it merely appears as though she has disrobed a bit more between each scene in which she appears.

Comments

The Japanese version had some minor characters fighting their own enemies alongside the Wizbits--as seen in the older version of this page. Maybe someone should drop a page or so on what their deal was. -Jute Mill
