Lanumon
Lanumon is an incredibly ancient civilization established inside of the Hidden Moon. The Hidden Moon's interior was hollowed out previously, possibly by the Encients, and in the center was placed the Silver Star, which allowed sunlight to shine on a daily basis within the moon and maintained gravity inside of the tiny world so that the residents could flourish on the walls of the moon. The neccessary intake of energy from the outside this required caused the Middle Moon to begin radiating Unlight.
The radiation from the Silver Star also bestowed Psicho powers on most of the Flora and Fauna of Lanumon, making the resident sentient species the Sylveran into powerful masters of Psichotics, as well as mutating some lesser species into creatures such as Bakeneko. The Sylveran, whose technology primarily revolved around genetic engineering, created an insectoid race called the Tethos to act as their servants.
The Silver Star, for some unknown reason, would also open gateways from Battal to Lanumon and vice-versa via common silver-backed mirrors whenever the Hidden Moon appeared as full in the night sky.
Elemenstors born amongst the residents of Lanumon are exceedingly rare, with the few cases quickly being promoted to royalty. Given the rarity of Elemenstors a highly developed scientific community developed on Lanumon. The highest honor of this community is to be elected to the Lanumon Science Academy which oversees the scientific and technological development of the Sylverans.
History
When the civilization had reached 1,000 years of age, Queen Warula - a half-human/half-Sylveran noblewoman attempted to steal the Silver Star's power in an act of cataclysmic betrayal, but was stopped by the Quicksilver Elemenstors who comprised the royal family. With the means of life-support within Lanumon disrupted, all life in Lanumon was put into a prolonged state of suspended hibernation.
Later, though unknown means, the Princess of the Royal family of Lanumon was reborn on Battal as Hagane Mikan, although Queen Warula was also revived. They continued their struggle (as seen in Pretty Metal Idol Hagane-chan), eventually ending with the Silver Star being returned to Lanumon, which revived the world, its inhabitants, and its ecology.
Geography
Lanumon is divided into two distinct hemispheres: Mare Lusil and Mare Hogol - which loosely translate into "Land of Sorrow" and "Land of Joy". Mare Lusil has the larger seas, more varied aquatic life, and the silver-skinned inhabitants are pacifistic. Mare Hogol is arid, covered in prairies, primarily landlocked, and their golden-skinned Sylveran natives are more aggressive.
Misc Info
- The Black Monolith, due to its ability to radiate gene-altering information, is believed to have come from Lanumon.
- The Cowfall Prophecies was the first published source in Battal to discuss Lanumon seriously. Unfortunately, it is the only thing in the entire work that seems to have the slightest basis in reality.
- Lanumon is quite possibly the most techologically advanced civilization ever depicted in the ELotH:TES canon, since the inhabitants are super-intelligent but could not rely on Elemenstation. Thus, whenever a writer wants to get away with including some element of sci-fi within the canon, they often use a rather cheap and widely reviled "It came from Lanumon!" explanation.
- The Silver Star's Psichotic energy affects the Dream Plane of Battal, and thus sleepers will sometimes astrally project themselves to Lanumon while they slumber, although they often don't realize what has happened.
