Last Battle of the Vampyric Wars

This Epic, 8-month battle marked the end of the Vampyric Wars in 1,003 TMSK. The climax of the battle occurred at the Chasm of Eternal Sorrow in southernmost Battal, but military maneuvers beginning as far north as Kelembad and ending as for north as Blee essentially constituted a single battle--which areas would consequently be referred to as Shattered Kelembad and the Ruins of Blee, respectively, for the next 2,510 years.

While "battles" are usually a convenient way to dice up the events of an extended campaign, the Last Battle of the Vampyric Wars was simply too Epic to include reasonable breaks. It was quite literally eight months of bloodshed as the forces of the twelve realms, led by the heroes of Kelembad, pushed back the forces of Vhadxi, southward through Blee and into the Chasm of Eternal Sorrow. Every step was hard-won, and that's a lot of steps.

There are two canonical versions of this battle. One, related in The Lost Tales of Shattered Kelembad, suggests that the battle was begun by Alnwein and Vulthar, who launched a last-ditch assault on the vampyric forces. The army of Kelembad took advantage of the rare stellar alignment of the Moon with the constellation O'nv'ience'C, allowing them to battle the Vampyric forces under no less than eight solid months of an unwaning full moon. They found that Vhadxi's unlife was too strong, and he could not be killed. There was hastily constructed, after the end of the war, the massive CryptoCrypt to contain him. This was yet one more horror to be hidden deep in the Chasm of Eternal Sorrow, and it was long indeed before Vhadxi rose again.

In the other version, related in Garth Ennis Presents: The Vampyric Wars, King T'n'r actually begins the battle during the eight months of full moon. After months of singing, King T'n'r loses his voice and is eventually killed by a disembodied wolf's head. A Clashathon is held even as war rages on every side and Vulthar completes the campaign begun by T'n'r.
