Item Law #14
Magical Item Responsibility Laws
- A Magical Item may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
- A Magical Item must obey orders given to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with Law 14, article 1.
- A Magical Item must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with Law 14, article 1 or article 2.
Note: See Item Law 15 to clarify the seeming contradiction between this law and common experience of magical items.
Interpretation
In the Item Law Makers Guild vs. Non-Human Beings case of 5,220, the wording "human being" has been interpreted to include all Entities as defined by Law 13, article 1, section a.
