Item Law #68

Regarding Existence of Enchantments

  1. No item may not be named unless it is currently enchanted. Names may not be reserved for unenchanted items that are intended to be enchanted in the future.
  2. Imaginary Enchantments that do not exist may not be expressed in the name of the item.
  3. Items with Enchantments of Imagination are acceptable only if:
    1. It is an actual enchantment of the item that makes its user imagine that the item possesses a certain power.
    2. Item has "Imaginary" or "Imagined" in the title.
    3. Item does not actually grant certain power. (Example: A ring that makes the user imagine that he has the ability to melt ice may be named: "Ring of Imaginary Powers of Ice Melting" but not "Ring of Ice Melting", provided that the ring does not actually melt ice. "Imaginary Ring of Ice Melting" is not acceptable, as it implies that the ring itself is imaginary, which is in conflict with Law 67. Also, "Ring of Imaginary Ice Melting" is unacceptable, as it implice that the Ice itself may be imaginary.)
    4. Imaginary enchantments must be named in such a way that is consistent with Law 1 and Law 2
    5. Items with Enchantments of Imagination must be consistent with Law 169
  4. Items may not be created for the sole purpose of un-enchanting other items, or causing them not to exist. (Example: a Ring of Disenchanting the Ring of Immortality is absolutely ILLEGAL)
  5. Items may not contain enchantments of both imagination and invisibility in any form.
  6. Items may not enhance the imagination of the user in ways that are harmful or embarrassing, unless it is agreed that it would actually be very, very funny. (Example: "Necklace Of Imagining That Everyone Thinks You're Attractive" would only be acceptable if a secondary enchantment made it work only on people who are very, very ugly and deserve to be made fun of.)
