Leng
The Kingdom of Leng dominates the southern portion of the Westrenn Coast of The Sickle after The Unsundering. Leng is dominated by the Temple of Cheese, one of the largest man-made structures in all of Battal.
Leng is a religious kingdom, in fact the ruler of Leng holds the post of "High Cheesemaster", charged with guarding the laws and cheeses of Leng against all who would profane them.
Cheese is an important part of the daily life of the people of Leng. Dairy farmers are accorded the status of low priests, and in small towns the mayor is the town cheesemaker. The consumption of mild cheese, particularly the weak Yaar Cheddar, is considered blasphemy.
The Temple of Cheese was once the largest free-standing structure in all of Battal, but for the last sixty years that position has been usurped by the Halls of Va in Va. It is in the Temple of Cheese that all aspects of cheese are codified and follow a strict set of religious precepts, from cheese production and storage to the way in which the cheese is consumed.
Reserved only for high holy rituals and executions are the mature Blue Cheeses of Leng. This cheese is able to eat metal and kill humans at five paces, and is only handled by a Dairy Bishop wearing breathing helms and ceremonial thick leather overalls called Cheese Wellies.
