Lesser Saltmarsh

A small village on the outskirts of The Baren Swamplands of Yore. Lesser Saltmarsh is the home town of Fantasmaphila, who is the daughter of the Butcher, Groumasmadunder.

It sits just southwest of the gently sloping Lesser Mountains (which some people refer to as hills) and just east of a slightly larger town known as Greater Saltmarsh. Collectively the area of the two towns is known as the saltmarshes.

After Fantasmaphila's father was killed by the vicious Pictoratice, the mayor of the town (Brutuskerplatzen) looked after Groumasmadunder's widow, Jewelasmalinda.

Brutuskerplatzen and Jewelasmalinda make their first appearances in the ElamenSTAR episode Ottoman's Dilemma.

In Face-Off in the Lesser Saltmarsh, the village is burned to the ground. The good people of the village took refuge in the nearby hills. After these terrible events, most returned to rebuild, but some chose to move to Greater Saltmarsh to escape the constant Pictoratice attacks and random evil Furniliar raids.

Names in the Saltmarshes

It is interesting to note that the people of the saltmarshes do not have conventional surnames, but rather their surname is inbedded as a central core of their unique aggrigated names. For instance, Fantasmaphila's surname is the core asma, Fanta is her given name, and phila is what is called the earned name which is given to you when you learn your letters, typically between the ages of six and ten.
