Omg
"Omg, what a steady hand you have." - an unknown drill seargent in Book 9
Introduced by accident into the ELOTH:TES universe, Omg is an old Plaincommon colloquialism roughly meaning "astonishing." Depending on the inflection used, it can be positive or negative in meaning.
It is uncommonly known that Tycho Brahe introduced the term in the middle of Book 7. Wondering how best to capture the idioms of youth for the novel, Tycho did his research in an internet chatroom under his traditional handle 69_so_fine*. The single phrase he got from the chat was "OMG" before being banned and briefly investigated by the FBI. Assuming it was an arcane phrase thought up on the spot due to terrible spelling, he integrated it into the tale of the children.
When he was informed by his editor that "omg" was also an acronym found in internet chatrooms, Brahe launched into a vitrol and explained the term's storied history on the spot. Tycho then placed an explanation of the phrase's history in the book as early in the text as he could without it seeming out-of-place (thus, as the Author's Preface).
*Brahe's favorite astrological sign is Cancer.
