Part the Waves

Upon striking this gear, the Elemenstor gains the ability to split a body of water in two, effectively exposing the lake bed (or sea bed, or river bed, or ocean bed... and so on) and allowing a person to pass through. The revealed pathway, whether it be lake bed, or sea bed, or river bed, or ocean bed, quickly dries out, as any water in the material of the floor is pushed aside as well. Although it is occasionally used in an Epic fashion, such as when Myrtle Breakwind split an animated lake in two (destroying the seemingly invulnerable creature outright), it is not Epic by nature. More common uses include parting heavy rain (to make a dry area), parting stew water to remove the meaty chunks (because they are icky) and parting salt water (to remove the salt that gathers on the dry water bed, to flavour said meaty chunks).

On a final note, this gear has been observed being used to part flowing water several times in the canon. When this happens, water tends to back up against the part and jump the banks, sometimes diverting the course of the river permanently.
