Plaincommon
Plaincommon is the chief language of Battal, spoken by the majority of its populace. It is extremely simple to learn, consisting chiefly of statements of varying levels of agreement and disagreement and threats of physical violence.
Plaincommon has a vocabulary of under a hundred words and a very simple grammatical syntax. As such, it is considered abhorrent to anyone of intelligence.
A common greeting in Plaincommon is "Wha'youwan'?", to which the accepted response for most people is "Wha'youlookin'a'?". The reply "Nuffin'" is indicative of a low status on the part of the speaker, which normally invites violence.
Other phrases in Plaincommon:
"Do you want to fight me?" - D´jo wuntsum?
"Get over here!" - K`mere
"Imagine! Seeing that in a place like this. Quite extraordinary, don't you agree?" - W'oe
Derivation of Plaincommon
Plaincommon is surmised to be a corruption of the archaic language of Proclamiton, which was long used in legal and royal decrees.
