Plains
Epicness, in all its Epic glory, has not only a keen sense of timing but also of location. This has led, predicably enough, to a strange confluence of Epic events around, primarily, two types of locations: Mountains and Planes. Planes play a very important role in the history of Battal. Their relative flatness, openness, and general size make them wonderful locations for battles of untold size and destruction. A plane itself brings to mind opportunity, adventure, excitement. Of course, with the glut of heroes in Battal, planes are more often than not crowded with groups of roving do-gooders, searching high and low for any sign of evil which they then exterminate. All but the most foreboding planes have become a sort of hero amusement park, where an up and coming hero can hang out, swap tips and magical items with other heroes, and get a taste of what fighting evil is like. The real planes, though, the ones on which the fate of the word seems to inexorably hang in the balance of time and time again (long beyond the point any rational observer would think prudent), are of great renown throughout the world.
