The Quasar Riders of Zonardia

by Christine-Anne McCaoli

A series of books describing and detailing the history and magic of the most mysterious and magical place on Battal, the long lost continent, Zonardia. Along with their loyal companions, the Quasar, the Zonardians explore their homeland, rediscover their past, and fight amazing battles on their continent in the sky. The series is well-known and liked for introducing an entire new "land" to play with in the world of Battal, although some critics have refered to it as "A cheesy novel version of an MMORPG expansion pack" or "total Star Wars ripoff".

However the series is especially popular amongst teenage girls. The author of the series, Ms McCaoli was only fifteen years old when she began to write it as Fan Fiction, and was surprised to learn that Realmworlds Publishing wished to publish it and make it part of the official EloTH:TES cannon. The fact that her parents were major shareholders of Realmworlds Publishing and had several incriminating photos of Tycho Brahe trying to seduce a cos-player at a convention problably had nothing to do with it.

Really.

The First Trilogy: Legacy

The chronicle of the Zonardian Civil War. The story begins with a trilogy Raven Darkblood working as a stablegirl in Blee. After years of searching for her true origins, she has all but given up. Then one day she finds a mysterious egg that hatches into a Quasar. Overnight, the mysterious enemies from a country thought to be only real in myth begin to pursue her. Raven must uncover the truth about her past, claim her rightful title of Quasar Rider navigate an entire new world, and fight the the agents of a dark Empire planning to not only completely conquer the magical continent of Zonardia, but also the rest of Battal as well!

Primary Characters

The Second Trilogy:Betrayal

  • Book Four: Secret Foe, supposedly published January 7th, 2006
  • Book Five: Subtle Rebellion, forthcoming
  • Book Six: Skyfall, forthcoming

A prequel to the Legacy Trilogy, dealing with the adventures of Raven's young parents, their tragic end, and the beginning of a dark age on Zonardia.

Discussion

This is a total star wars rip-off! How could they publish this?? I'm surprised that Realmworlds hasn't had its pants sued off about this! Has anybody read these? Are they just mindless parody? -gruff
Tell me about it. I read them with fascinated horror, able to predict every single plot twist the books would make. It was almost hilariously bad. Anyways, according to the author, she's simply following the archetypal "Hero's Journey", but I think that's a crap excuse and she just wanted to write a story about Luke Skywalker as a girl riding dragons, and tossed in Elemenstor Saga crap in it to make it fit. If her parents didn't have a huge share in RWP, I'm sure these would've never seen it to print. But someone really should report this crap to LucasFilm. I can't wait to read the second and find out that Lord Schwartzhart fathered half the main cast. - Z

first thing that struct me about the series was the use of 1940's style propaganda art direction. Very unique

Yeah. It was nice to see a series of novels that had illustrations in them. Its pretty rare to see that these days. It reminded me a lot of the style used in Sky Captain or the Incredibles.
