Rings of Canon

Released in Nov 2006, this weighty tome describes the official stance of Realmworlds Publishing on the state of its canon. Unfortunately leaves fans almost as confused as they were before. Using a metaphor of an onion, but at times referring to "multiple cores of influence" and at times pulling in hyperdimensional string-theory, the complex web of dependencies sheds few insights, and appears to actually be closer to a buyers guide which makes a case for purchasing all produced elemenstor related materials.

Nonetheless, a few interesting nuggets are revealed, either intentionally or through inference by informed fans.

A Brief Overview

The layered method indicates the direction that canon information is pushed, where changes to a core layer are propagated outwards, rather than inconsistencies being rolled inwards.

At the core of the canon sits the CCG, around which the 13 books of the The Elemenstor Cycle|Elemenstor Cycle] sit. Sitting in a secondary core, not wrapping the Elemenstor Cycle, is ElamenSTAR, and around the books and the cartoon series are the other primary works such as the ElemenstorLance series. Interestingly the outer most layer of the canon is the Pen & Paper RPG, considered to be the most mutable layer, able to be changed to reflect any changing lore.

In satellite layers are such ancillary franchises as some of the obscure (or not so obscure) manga works or web based initiatives. Also included in these so-called "Oort-clouds" are some of the more recent television ventures for Realmworlds.

Revelations?

Ultimately recognized as a relatively forgettable compilation timed to tie-in with the purchasing frenzy and marketing push related to the 10th anniversary release of Book 1. Specifically noted in the text is reference to the impact of the "soon to be released completely re-imagined Book 1". The "re-imagined Book 1" in the text materialized as three separate re-imaginings which were released the the 10th anniversary of Book 1: Book 1: Epic, Book 1: Extreme, and Book 1: Romance. There have also been rumors of a fourth re-imagining titled Book 1: Crap but these are unsubstantiated.
