Ronard's Rather Small And Weak But Nevertheless Enchanted Sword
Ronard's sword has been cited as being 3 gesundheits in length with a diameter of .4 gesundheits and weighing between 10 draughties and 9 tosses. It supposedly gave off a sickly yellow glow and had the words "To Hizzenhoffen" scratched into the hilt. Given the detail with which its dimensions are presented, it is surprising to note that the nature of the weapon's enchantment is under constant and heavy dispute by historians of the time. Some say that it possessed the gift of smell, but, given its inability to speak, this assertion is far from proven despite several claims to the contrary. They all agree, of course, that the sword was crafted out of Rubian, which was used in many magical swords during that time period.
Several prominent biographers have proposed that it never actually existed and was only added posthumorously to popular lore by Ronard's successors, who sought to justify their title as Magic Sword Kings. However this seems unlikely given his role as a member of The Kings Council, which was a council of Magic Sword King contemporaries of Ronard.
There was a well documented sword by the same name that was held by Magic Sword Kings from King Sc'rch'drth through Zonard. While this sword's existence is well documented no historical evidence exists to prove that it is the same sword that King Ronard carried.
This sword was actually specifically enchanted to be rather weak. While this is generally a counter-productive enchantment it is slightly useful in that it's strength is relative, it is never extremely or slightly weak against your opponent. This makes it theorectically possible (but rather difficult) to defeat any opponent with the sword no matter their power.
The idea of the "Sword of Ronard" has persisted as a symbol of his power and as an extention of his rule of law. In Ronardity, the "Sword of Ronard" has come to be a phrase used to describe anything that acts as an extension of Ronard's will and teachings. At the 2006 Readiation Con, a "crazed fan" (genius?) claiming to be the "sword of Ronard" attempted to assassinate L H Franzibald.
