Shiro
The main character of the animated TV series ElamenSTAR Shuffle. In the first episode he has greasy white hair, thick glasses and is an absolutely stereotypical Otaku--from his enormous collection of action figures to his enormous collection of manga to his perpetual love affair with technology and inability to relate to women under the age of 50.
As the series progresses, however, Shiro slowly sloughs off his imperfections as the (unwilling) attention of Aiko gradually improves his self-confidence, appearance, hygeine, and manners. It is believed that Lord ElamenSTAR Q was attempting to guide his Otaku fanbase to better lifestyles, or possibly whip them into his own personal army for undisclosed but doubtless nefarious purposes.
Regardless, by the end of the first season, Shiro wears contacts, combs his hair, and even sometimes manages to interact with Aiko without getting a nosebleed, accidentally touching her chest, et cetera. He still, however, goes completely crazy over new toys and/or technology.
It is unknown what further character development might be in store for Shiro.
This white-haired protagonist is told in a dream that a disaster will occur and that he will be the only one able to save Alternate Battal. Thinking nothing of the dream, he continues on his daily life. Meanwhile, his grandmother Michiko, who was an insane defense attorney, feels bad that her grandson doesn't have a girlfriend. Knowing that her most important clients have a daughter about his age, she arranges a blind date in exchange for reduced legal fees. This satisfies everyone involved, except the daughter Aiko, who is upset that she might lose her status as the most popular girl in school.
In the third episode, Aiko (the captain of the school's ElamenSTAR Shuffle team) teaches Shiro how to play, hoping to keep him preoccupied with something other than dating her. She abruptly ends the lesson after she loses the first test phase.
Throughout the series, Shiro interacts with enemies like Svald Vhadxi and mysterious beneficiaries like Cardman. During an early card match, it is revealed that Svald is working for the former hero of Alternate Battal and second Harbinger Portent, Char Reyarteb. The match is declared a draw when the infamous factory error, Armor of Largechesthood, is played; this inspires Svald to kidnap Aiko and tell Shiro that if he ever wanted to see her again and/or cure her of the effects of the card, he should travel to the Old House of Eyekia Lane and face the entire group of villains.
Other Appearances
Shiro is widely believed to have a cameo in the Elemenstor Gearstrike episode Walking Dead.
