Skip

Skip is the character in The Wizbits based on a young Wendell Blunder. It is widely accepted that the name "Skip" was derived from the ElamenSTAR episode "Shipwrecked!," wherein Wendel is referred to (for no apparent reason) as "The Skipper" for the duration of the Four Underdogs' stay on G'lgan's Isle.

Background

From the Village of Steam Shallows, Skip, a lanky poleboat pilot. Drawn to a strange light reflecting through the hot mists rising from the lakes of mineral water that give Steam Shallows its name, Skip ventured dangerously close to the mangroves at its edge. Reaching to pluck the obsidian fruit from the trees whose roots bubbled a caustic sap into the waters, Skip nearly fell into the almost-boiling slurry. Sizzling through his protective glove, the Rubian of Fire made the surrounding, bubbling murk seem cool in comparison.

On the Show

Skip was the standard-issue "cool one." If there was a snappy catchphrases to be uttered, irony to be dispensed, or some "cool stunt thing" to be done, Skip was most likely to do it. Thus, he was ostensibly the most popular character on the show.

One of Skip's ironic character traits is, despite being a Fire Elemenstor, he is also a poleboat pilot; the writers often played his extensive knowledge of the waves to rub in to Penny's more utilitarian, Elemenstruation-focused Water knowledge.
