Back to Foods of Battal

Soup

Soups of Battal are of two categories. Soup being the first, and Epic Soup being the second, far more common.

Soup

Soup is exactly what you might expect and comes in various varieties, a few of which are mentioned below.

Epic Soup

Unlike the meager soups of our earthly plane, the Epic Soup of Battal is of a consistency so thick only the Enchanted Spoon of Wangdok can penitrate it's awesome soupy goodness. Plus sometimes you find out the soup is a baked potato. Also all such soups are a mystery until the first spoon is plunged into its soupy depths.

Stew

Pretty much like regular soup, but far more common. Often dishes appear in the books and novels which are referred to as soups, but lacking the mysterious properties are probably merely stews.

if all soups are a ystery till you begin to eat them is it possible to have recipes since technically whatever you made could and most likely would upon eating? thus is soup of such a magical state that you could have a recipe for "Soup" and using the same ingredients would produce various soups due to the magical state? my memory of cooking related lore is hazy at best

No, roughyl correct, the Foodstuffs and Stuffing section of the 'Book With Spells and Other Things Like That' mentions that soup has an almost trans-space/time property of Epic Mysteriousness, and the ingredient list used ensures only that the actual result contains none of those things, hence, being semi-hampered in its Mystery
