Stickius Ickius
The Purple Hazeweed (stickius ickius) is native to the Nearly Flat Mountains of Urgel, where its natives discovered its uses in their religious ceremonies years ago. Recently, however, Elemenstors, aristocrats, and others with access to independent sources of light have started to cultivate it for recreational purposes indoors in cellars and dungeons. Some of the most notable recreational strains are the Southern Lights, White Battalion, Crunkelberry, and Magic Sword, the first strain to be grown outside of the Nearly Flat Mountains of Urgel.
Use
Purple Hazeweed produces hallucinogenic effects when it is smoked by rolling it into a small sphere and throwing said sphere onto an open flame. The user must then thrust his head above the fire inhale the plume of smoke that will inevitably issue from it. The originators of this practice are the Holy Baker, who would do this repeatedly with up to 30 grams at a time, and then claim to have prophetic experiences of the Gods of Battal, who then advise them on the direction of the community as well as their personal lives.
Effects
Hazeweed's recreational use has skyrocketed in the last eighty years, creating a counterculture who are constantly in community with the Gods and their victuals. The effects of Hazeweed are highly controversial. There is heated debate over whether it actually causes a connection with the Gods. The only proven effect is an obfuscation of vision, and a dulcet ringing in the ears....yeah. So, umm, people don't know whether....whether....umm, yeah. I forgot what I was talking about. Sorry. So, yeah, I don't know. Have you ever seen the back of a Curld, man.....Have you ever seen the back of a Curld Hazed, man? Yeah, alright.
The Hammerling's Weed also causes great gastronomic distress in ruminant animals, as evidenced by the demise of many brave Minotaur and their proud Hammer Lords shortly after the Hammer Wars. It's effects upon other anthropomorphic creatures of Battal is largely unknown.
