Summoner

Contrary to most fantasy settings, a Summoner of Battal lacks any magical skills. Rather, they are loud, obnoxious, usually heavy-set men and women with an uncanny ability for herding people. Summoners are often employed by the Courts to bring in witness, juries, etc.; others are hired by Kings to recruit armies and heroes.

The best Summoner ever was Galthron Gwenk, who, with a single high-pitched scream, was able to call upon a family of Dragons nesting seventeen miles away. However, as he lacked the ability to control the dragons once they arrived, he and his village were quickly devoured.

Other Summoners

There are also those who, rather than having any magical skills of their own, use Summon Tokens to call upon and control creatures from around Battal. While sometimes these people are called Summoners, they are more often called Token Masters.
