The Coin of Choosing is a legendary artifact used for the appointment of kings.

Imbued with mystical powers, each candidate for the crown chooses a side of the coin to represent them. The infallible Coin of Choosing will invariably land with the more capable ruler's side facing up.

The Coin of Choosing has never been wrong before, even when it appointed Gunt the Half-brained as king of nine million people. Those questioning the wisdom of the Coin are traditionally locked in the dungeon for the rest of their days.

Oddly, each time the coin is used, it has changed its appearance to be indistiguishable from the most recent batch of coins minted.
