The Holy Messiah Carpenter

The Wizbits, Episode 201

Aired 10th September, 2000 (Select east-coast stations only)

Summary

The Wizbits encounter tiny blue creatures in the Tiny Forest of Minuaten. The little blue things help them defeat an ugly wizard and his cat before sending them on their way. At the end of the episode, the Wizbits find that, although the little blue creatures helped them through the forest, they also stole most of their change and jewelry in the process. As a result, Lander is forced to get a job at a convenience store. In the episodes following this, no mention of the little blue creatures or the convenience store are ever made again. This is also the other episode in which Lander and his sister share a bath together (see also 'Wish Upon a Wizbit').

Moral

Lander: Boy, having a job sure is tough. Everything in life is easier if you can make it without working. The best thing to do is double cross anyone and everyone and steal whenever you can! It might be "bad," but it sure beats a job!

Notes

Many fans refer to this as the "Smurfs cross-over." It is either reviled or held up as an oddity by fans because of three things:

  • It only aired on select stations on the east coast before the censors realized they had completely missed the bath scene and pulled the episode. Many fans have consequently assumed it never aired, but "bootlegged" VHS recordings from small towns in Maine and Florida do exist, which is why we know the content of this episode.

  • Everyone knows The Tiny Forest of Minuaten is home to the Cohoris, not this race of communal blue creatures that never built anything but carved out mushrooms instead, which, if you think about it, is actully just destroying something.

  • Why is there a convenience store in the middle of a fantasy mythos? This was never explained or followed up on again. Most fans just pretend this episode never happened, if they are lucky enough to have seen it.

  • This is the episode that James Langomedes was found burning, saying that there were dyemons inside it. No copy is known to exist after this pyre.

Fixed the formatting.
Fixed the comment that this episode never aired. Since this episode is different than its Japanese counterpart, if it had in fact never aired we would not know of its contents. I remember the bad press over this episode; some censor had fallen asleep at the wheel (so to speak) and let the bath scene through. After it aired in a few east-coast cities, complaints came rolling in and the episode was pulled. Fortunately for those who can find/afford it, the episode was not completely destroyed by Langomedes. ~Kenneth Pike
